Neuwrite London previously ran seminars under its 'ScienceWrite' initiative, to help early-stage science writers from under-represented backgrounds take the next step in their careers. The  seminars were free to attend, and with each we aimed to help demystify the process of pitching, writing, selection, editing and publishing, with focus on the UK industry.

This series has now evolved to form part of the mentoring programme. You can find details about that scheme here.

Below you can also find YouTube links to each of the  seminars that we ran in November 2021.

Event description

From reporting on the most deadly pandemic in a century and the climate crisis, to the popular science books delving into the science of who we are and how the world works, science writing is more important now than it ever has been. The world of book publishing and journalism, though, can be mysterious, intimidating, and difficult to break into. ScienceWrite is looking to change that.

That's why we're hosting a free half-day online seminar for budding science writers from underrepresented backgrounds looking to break into non-fiction science book publishing and journalism. Join our panel of agents and editors to learn about how to get your words out of your head and into science magazines, bookshops and beyond.

  • What do you need to do to get your name on that byline?
  • What does writing a best-selling science book involve?
  • How does it feel when you finally see your writing in print?

Come and learn from some of the best science writers and publishing professionals in the business.

With thanks to Hodder & Stoughton for funding.
